Star Tribune

“Singer Raul Malo sounds more emotional than ever, and new accordionist Percy Cardona adds youthful enthusiasm, as witnessed this summer at Mankato's Vetter Stone Amphitheater. Outdoors or indoors, the Mavericks are a must-see live band.”

”A very obvious audience favorite was accordionist Percy Cardona, and this kickoff of the En Español tour was also his first tour date playing with The Mavericks.” “No matter what band he’s with, he plays with every ounce of his being and always wins the audience over. It was so much fun getting to see him do his thing!”

-Sara Brown

The Aquarian

"…superb squeezebox player, Percy Cardona, has gifted us with “Linus and Lucy,” a lively translation of the song we all know and love from A Charlie Brown Christmas."

Vancouver Sun

"As someone who has seen the 65 year-old play with the Police and on numerous solo tours, it was hands-down the loosest, most unfettered performance he’s ever given here." "The format meant that in numbers such as the Quentin Crisp-dedicated Englishman In New York, the sax solo became a crowd singalong and She’s Too Good For Me a killer accordion break."

-Stuart Derdeyn

I Heart Local Music

"The Last Bandoleros, out of Texas, filled the Uptown with a high-energy Southwest sound, although it was their accordion player who stole the show. We hadn’t seen the Uptown get that worked up over a squeezebox since Weird Al played there a couple of years ago."

Glide Magazine

"Percy Cardona plays accordion on several songs." "If you caught Sting on the American leg of his 57th & 9th tour earlier in 2017, then you know that one of the fun parts of the show was when Sting and Joe joined the Last Bandoleros for their song “Where Do You Go?” which is included on their portion of the DVD/BluRay."

OC Music News

“…Malo’s acoustic guitar and Percy Cardona’s tender accordion playing gently changed the tempo to a soothing waltz which made one feel like they were drifting along a vacation.”

Rolling Stone

"While the band acknowledges the Tejano sound is very much a component – they often tour with a button accordion player, Percy Cardona – they've never made a conscious decision to play it up." "With its Tex-Mex vibe and rock roots, the Last Bandoleros' music is undeniably refreshing."

-Joseph Hudak

Anajali Raguraman

Straits Times

"At some moments, it felt like a family traveling band was playing on stage, with the other opening act, Tex-Mex band The Last Bandoleros, also providing back up vocals, beautiful harmonies and an accordion player who lit up the stage every time he came on."

-Anajali Raguraman

Jack Gorman

Houston Press

"Given that there were two dads playing along with their sons and a pair of brothers, maybe that’s just the benefit of jamming with your family. Or maybe it’s that Sting is just so effortlessly confident that he didn’t mind leveraging his star power to make sure everyone got a chance to shine, be they blood or just a guy who can rip a wicked accordion solo. I would not mind if music had more men like him around."

-Cory Garcia

Dos Centavos

"The band rocked out and gave the overheated crowd some satisfaction before the cold winds arrived. Already having appeared on national TV and serving as show openers for Sting’s latest tour, The Last Bandoleros, including Derek James, Jerry Fuentes, and bad-ass accordionist Percy Cardona, are already going places."

-Tacho Medellin

Jeremy Chua

Country Music Chat

"In their attempt to hype up and engage the crowd, the band did a prelude with Diego Navaira commanding different pitches of “whoa-oh’s” from everyone." "Mid-way through, the spotlight was on Cardona, who lit up the stage in an instant with his accordion-playing skills like no other."

-Jeremy Chua
