Joining Sting

Tonight, we play in Osaka, Japan. It's the last show of the Asia leg. The 57th and 9th tour will resume in Europe, but The Last Bandoleros will, instead, headline a tour in the United States. Playing for both TLB's and Sting has been incredible. I'm sad to see it come to an end.

As I lay here in bed, unable to fall asleep, I can't help but think about a certain something. To explain what it is, I need to ask you a question; if you'll indulge me:

Have you ever wished you could talk to your younger self to give him/her some advice? Most people have. The problem with that is...you can't, obviously. Well, I thought of something better. I started asking, "What advice would the future me give me now?" You don't need to be a fortune teller and predict what they would say. You only need to visualize who they are. My future self has a muscular physique, has all his teeth, and can play the squeeze box a lot better than I can. He is happy, successful, and is surrounded by good people.

Okay, so how can that guy give me advice? Well, that's sort of a trick question. If he were able to speak to me, first thing is first, he has to exist. I need to take the necessary steps to become that person. I go to the gym. I floss every day and have regular check ups with my dentist. I practice my accordion all the time. I keep in touch with good people. Do you see what's happening? My future self is already putting me on the path I want to be on.

So why is this keeping me awake? It's because my future self is one of the many people I have to thank for what I'm about to say.

The two photos in this blog were taken by Martin Kierszenbaum; who manages Sting. It's the moment when the boss congratulated me. I will be heading to Europe as I have accepted a job offer to continue the 57th and 9th tour with Sting.

Before I become giddy and start blabbering about how much of a dream come true this is, I need to pump the brakes and think, "How did I get here?" To oversimplify, I worked hard and controlled what I was able to control. Yes, music is fun, but it is also my job; where the highest form of respect is demanded. So, I show up on time, I learn the material to the best of my ability, and seek to contribute towards a positive work environment. This is what has worked for me and is the mindset I will continue to practice.

As for The Last Bandoleros, they have been my biggest supporters. I'm pretty sure they knew before I did as they prematurely congratulated me on several occasions. They are such a talented bunch and I'm looking forward to rockin' with them in September when they play the 57th and 9th tour again for an East Coast run.

Thanks to past groups Stefani Montiel, Grupo Alamo, and Miguel Hernandez. My lengthy time with you allowed me to step up my game at every turn.

Thanks to my friends and family for your love and sacrifice. My aspirations as a small town kid wouldn't be possible without your support.

I also thank YOU for reading this. I'm not sure what inspires you to follow me along this journey, but I'm glad I'm able to impact your life in a positive way.
